Technology
Designed for rural conditions first
Villages are where connectivity is worst and the scenery is best. The platform is built around that constraint rather than in spite of it.
Mobile-first
Every screen is designed for a phone held in one hand, in sunlight.
Cloud-based
Serverless infrastructure that costs nothing when a village is quiet.
Fast and lightweight
Static delivery from an edge network — pages open before the signal drops.
Built for rural conditions
Progress survives a lost connection and syncs when the phone finds one.
Innovation & technology
Innovation & technology
Explorentia runs on infrastructure chosen for villages: cheap when quiet, fast on a weak signal, and maintainable by a community rather than an IT department.
Live today
No app to install
The whole visitor experience runs in the phone browser. A camera pointed at a printed code is the entire onboarding.
Rebindable QR system
Codes are bound to points in the CMS, not printed into them. A point can move, be renamed or be replaced without reprinting a single sticker.
Edge-delivered, serverless
Pages are static files served from a content delivery network, with a serverless API behind them. Infrastructure costs scale to near zero when a village is quiet.
Eleven-language content pipeline
Every piece of content is stored per language, with machine translation as a first draft and the community as the editor. Nothing is published that a person has not seen.
Structured cultural metadata
Points carry category, position, coordinates, opening hours and accessibility as structured fields — readable by search engines today and exportable to national or European systems.
Measurement built in
Scans, route completion, ratings and offer redemptions are recorded per point and per period, with visitor demographics collected anonymously and with consent.
Accessible by standard
The public website is built to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with contrast, keyboard operation and screen-reader support treated as requirements rather than improvements.
On the roadmap
Planned capabilities, listed separately from what the platform does today.
Municipality dashboards
Institutional reporting for local authorities and the Union of Cyprus Communities, with comparable metrics across villages.
Sustainability indicators
Mobility patterns and low-impact route metrics, aligned with European Green Deal reporting.
Open data endpoints
Anonymised, documented endpoints for cultural institutions and public bodies, in line with open data principles.
Assisted route planning
Suggested routes built from a visitor's time, interests and mobility needs.
